Purbrook v Hambledon under 9's on Sunday 9 June 2002

This was our first under 9 match of the season played under winter-like conditions of rain and a very strong wind.

Clark Harding won the toss and elected for Purbrook to bowl first. Hambledon, who fielded a very strong team, eventually scored 325 runs.

The highlight of the Purbrook fielding was some excellent bowling from Rhys Griffiths, Clark Harding and James Holder and a fine run out by Rhys Griffiths.

Purbrook finished with 216 runs after some excellent bowling and fielding by the Hambeldon players.

Our batsmen, inparticular James Holder, managed an impressive innings for the first of the season.

Overall, the team played very well considering this was the first match for the majority of our team. The signs are very encouraging for the rest of the summer.
