Havant U15s v Purbrook U15s 14 June 2002

Disinterested Purbrook Humiliated By Havant

Havant batted first and Chris Wade (37) and Nick Hardaker (32) ran aggressively between the wickets from the start. They soon realised that the Purbrook fielders were too apathetic to stop them and exploited this ruthlessly. After a few overs they began taking singles that would normally be described as taking the mick. However, such was the lethargy of the fielders that there was never a serious danger of a run out.

Both the bowling and fielding got steadily worse as Havant notched up 121 for 2 in their rain-shortened 16 over innings.

Purbrook's batting wasn't too bad but, to be honest, Havant weren't trying very hard by then. Sam Pearce notched up 20. The major plus was a patient 30 not out by Matt Colban.

Purbrook closed on 71 for 3.

Purbrook: Sean Figgins, Sam Pearce, Tom Jones, Will Sage, Hari Haran, Simon Bennett, Jared Carter, Carl Marsh, Ian Budd, Matt Colban, James Harrison.
